How We Met |
I was giving our mutual friend Dagwood (Darrin Reynolds) a ride home and he asked if we could stop at a friend's house to pick up his bicycle. So I drove him there and parked my truck in front of Patrick's carport. As Dagwood introduced me to Patrick and some other guys, we heard a very loud crash. Upon further investigation, we found that I had for some reason left the truck in neutral. (I promise, I don't have blond roots!) It rolled into the center carport post, knocking it down onto a roommate's car. The boys were all very gracious and said it was no big deal, despite my embarrassment over my ditziness and the destruction left in its wake. Later Patrick & I both remember how we caught each other's eye that day we met. |

How It Happened |
We went for a drive out in the desert with the ever-energetic dog Sabbath and got out to walk down a dried-up river bed where we'd visited an old Indian cave in days gone by. When we arrived at the cave, we talked about memories we had there and how we wished other people hadn't destroyed parts of it. Patrick called me his Little Indian Princess and we both sang part of that song by the Presidents. I started to continue our little trek down the river bed when Patrick exclaimed, Honey! I turned around to find him scrambling to his knees, holding a sparkling ring. He asked me to marry him, and I said Really?! before I smothered him in a big hug and said YES. He went on to tell me all the romantic plans he had made to propose to me, and how my schedule had foiled them, so he thought he had better not let an opportunity pass!
